Best for: Developers, writers, and analysts who context-switch frequently
Setup Steps
1
Match resolution and colour profile
Mixed 1080p and 1440p displays look wrong side by side. Two identical panels from the same batch are the easiest solution. If mixing, set both to sRGB.
2
Install a dual monitor arm
Frees the desk surface, reduces neck strain, and allows you to tilt both displays to match eye level. The Ergotron LX Dual handles most consumer monitors under 8kg.
3
Configure display arrangement in OS
Set the primary display to whichever side your dominant eye prefers. In macOS: System Settings → Displays → Arrangement. In Windows: Display Settings → Arrange your displays.
4
Set scaling consistently
If mixing HiDPI and standard panels, match effective resolution so text appears the same size on both screens. Windows handles mixed-DPI worse than macOS — third-party tools help.
